His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Hisham Alalawi, Iraqi Ambassador to South Africa hosted a dinner invitation at his residence on 5/2/2012, for members of the Iraqi communityin the Province of Gauteng, in honor of the delegation of the Africa Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by His Excellency Ambassador Mr. Bakr Ahmed Aziz, Head of Africa Department in the Ministry. The invitation was held on the occasion of the full withdrawal of the U.S. forces from Iraq.
Ambassador Al-Alawi gave a speech on this occasion to welcome the delegation and the members of the community, and provided a brief update on the activities of the Ambassador and the Embassy during the past year and expressed optimism about the future of bilateral relations between Iraq and South Africa. He also stressed the interest of the Embassy to collaborate with the members of the community and provide better services to them.
H.E Ambassador Bakr Aziz spoke about the situation in Iraq and the development of the Department of Africa at the Ministry, and stressed the importance of the African countries to Iraq, especially South Africa. He also shared his positive impression about the embassy and its staff and that it is the most active Embassy of Iraq in the African continent.
In conclusion, the members of the community thanked the Ambassador and expressed their delight in meeting the delegation.
