The Ambassador attended the seventeenth annual conference of the Socialist Party (PS), which was held from 8-10/4/2011 in the city of Matosinhos, in the North of Portugal (300 Km from Lisbon). The Portuguese Prime Minister Jose Sócrates gave a speech during the opening session of the Conference, where he spoke about the situation of Portugal and its economic crisis, as well as its financial problems. He also spoke about the relations of the party with its political rival Social Democratic Party (PSD).
