The Minister Plenipotentiary of the Embassy Mr. Shamil Al-Khatib was delegated by H.E. the Ambassador to attend the events organized at the Italian city of Florence on 24-25/03/2012, on the occasion of the visit of a delegation from the Iraqi National Library to the city to celebrate the cooperation between the Florence City Library and the Iraqi National Library. These events were co-organized by Florence Municipality, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Organization (Un Ponte per…), and included meetings between the two sides and lectures on art, calligraphy and musical performances by the young Iraqi artist Khayyam Al-Lami. The minister praised the existing cooperation between the Iraqi and Italian sides in all fields, especially in the cultural side which is object of considerable attention from the Iraqi Government, in order to revive the Iraqi culture and rehabilitate its institutions.
